Complete Wing Chun The Definitive Guide to Wing Chun History and Traditions Complete Martial Arts Robert Chu Rene Ritchie Y Wu 9780804831413 Books Reviews
- Sifu Chu really done a credit to himself to showcase the many branches of Wing Chun. Grandmaster Yip Man's lineage is of course heavily showcased but the book also contains much information on other major and rare styles outside of Yip Man. Yuen Kay-san, Gu-Lao, Pan-nam etc, to name a few. Many of these systems contain different elements in history, curriculum, weaponry, training and even techniques but at the core of it they are all Wing Chun. Although not all systems are fully showcased or mentioned but this is a must-read for any WC practitioner.
- Purchased this Wing Chun Book with others and I think that this is one of the better books on the market. As other reviewer's have stated the title "complete" is not necessarily accurate but it does provided a good summary on some of the lesser known Wing Chun styles/lineages. I have been taking Wing Chun approximately six months and found this book helpful in providing knowledge of the history and background in the martial art. The pictures and terminologies were also a bonus.
- This was an OK read.
- Good Wing Chun Kung Fu book. Worth to try and learn, but I would say, you need to learn from a Kung Fu master and not only from this book. This book is for further practice reference.
- this book really opens ones eyes to the many variations of the wing chun art and it's history. an excellent book for all wing chun practitioners! highly recommended.
- I liked the book a lot and finished the book in one day. I liked the stories and it was a Short concise read. There were also insights into a few of the systems such as pictures of certain postures and applications of the varied lineages.
Although I liked the book I would not call it "Complete Wing Chun". The chapters were short and not comprehensive enough. Even though they chose a few of the major lineages, they did not go into as much detail as I would have liked. Maybe a little more detail on more of the principles and applications that set the lineages apart. I just wished that they had gone into more detail. Hopefully there will be more books on the individual lineages. - Finally here comes a great reference book. Although I expect more detail information, this is a great milestone. I suggest every Wing Chun practitioner should read this book and have some insight about this martial art system. I hope to see more books from the authors in the future to show us more style pictures and training methods and maybe more true history. We should all thank the authors' effort to bring us this book.
- this is a great product, and well made too, and I would definitely and highly recommend this product to anyone who is thinking of purchasing it.
