• My parents used this book more than two decades ago for their ESL (English as Second Language) classes. The cartoon drawings were colorful, precise and the translation were accurate going back and forth between both languages Vietnamese and English. I still use them to look up and learn technical terms for different life scenarios. Imagine you want to buy a saw to cut piece of lumber and there are many kinds of there, you need to narrow down to which one is right for you, this book will be a great reference. It stays on my bookcase as a collectible of my childhood book collection. Highly recommended book!
• I haven't actually gotten the book yet but I'm sure I will love it! When I was a kid (90s), my mom had the same book/version/cover but in Chinese/English. We used it to learn English so I have fond memories of this book. Every in my family speaks Korean instead of me since I chose to learn French and Spanish instead. It's time for Korean now and I'm super excited to get this in a few days! I think I paid $1.79 or something for it (I do not pay more than $5 for any book for myself) and wish there was a more used version for $0.01 but oh well!
• Picture dictionaries are fun and this one has excellent pictures drawn clearly and with good attention to detail. It gives children and adults an opportunity to learn Spanish/English in the context of daily activities with several items with vocabulary listed on each page. For example, a picture of an office with have various pieces of equipment in the room complete with items you might find on a desk. You come away learning the vocabulary of a typical office set up. This is a book that contains things for adults, young adults and children. Get it; a true bargain.
• This is a very useful book for those struggling to learn English. The book uses a series of graphics (drawings) that show slices of real life most useful for beginning (and intermediate) learners. Through those graphics the book presents conversational English in a way that teaches and encourages but doesn't intimidate the learner. I gave this book to some close friends in another country who are trying to learn English and they liked it and learned from it. As others have noted, however, it could use some phonetic spellings to help readers with pronunciation.
• This contains a lot of words, and the range of the vocabulary is quite wide. The illustrations are fine, although they do give out an old-fashioned quality. I do wish the Korean was in a color other than light blue, which makes it hard to read. The type is also a little on the small side, but the book will serve its purpose quite nicely, whether you are learning Korean or English.
• I have known about this book since my childhood and till this day I take it and go through some stuff. I would recommend this book for everyone, does not matter what age. Always pleasure to open it and even if you know all of it, you can always have great learning time with children.
• I used this book when I was learning english and is my favorite to give as a gift. The learning process with the pictures/terms is fun and nice.
• This book met all my wishes and requirement. Yes, I would recommend thsi book to anyone. However, the bok did prove to be more advanced than I needed for the very beginning learner. The greetings along with their pictures, vegetables and the entire layout in the 2nd edition, proved far more valuable to me than the 1st edition. I am happy with both editions. Combined, they do suit my purpose for teaching ESL. Thank you.
